Introduction to KCA-iP500
For those with new or older iPods / head-units the
KCA-iP500 maybe the solution for your iPod needs. Display and select music files from Music Menu (Playlist, Artist, Album, Genre). Random and repeat play function. Power supply and battery charge function.
Please read the instruction manual supplied with the KCA-iP500 before installation or operating the product.
The KCA-iP500 has two switches located on the interface box which need to be set to the correct position, depending on what head-unit you are using. For these details; please go to our
Recommended iPod Connectivity Chart, find the model number of your head-unit and click on YES in the KCA-iP500 column.

iPod Connectability with Kenwood Head-units
KCA-iP500 can be connected with the following iPods.
• iPod (The 3rd generation model)
• iPod (The 4th generation model)
• iPod (The 5th generation model)
• iPod mini
• iPod photo
• iPod nano |
Before connecting the KCA-iP500 to a Kenwood head-unit, please make sure your iPod's software is updated to the latest version which can be download from APPLE's OFFICIAL WEBSITE.
If the software is not updated, connection problems with KCA-iP500 may happen, and the Kenwood head-unit may not properly playback music files from your iPod.
Common Notes for all models
Depending on the connected control unit, source name may be displayed "EXT-MEDIA", "*-MEDIA" or CD Changer ("CD-CH"etc.). Please see the manual of your head-unit.
• DNPS function of the control unit cannot be operated with KCA-iP500.
Please see the manual of your head-unit about the DNPS (Disc Name PreSet) function.
• After connecting your iPod to the KCA-iP500,the first track played will be the track you played last with your iPod, and "RESUMING" will be displayed while playback, since the title number and title name can not be displayed correctly.
When browsing item or title is changed, the first track selected will be automatically recongnised as track number 1, disc number1 in the Playlist, and correct title number and name will be displayed.
