My Hi-Fi system displays the message ‘PROTECT’ and keeps switching off, what can I do?

PROTECT' can mean three things, the speaker wires are shorting or wired incorrectly, or that the unit is faulty in someway.

Firstly, power down the system completely. Disconnect all speakers and then power up the system whilst speakers are still disconnected.

If 'PROTECT' does not appear then please check that there are no short circuits in the speaker leads and that they are connected + to + and - to -. If the leads have been extended then check connections.

If 'PROTECT' is displayed then there is a fault within the unit and it will need to be inspected by a Service Agent. (For details of Home Audio Service Agents please go to Kenwood Service Agents.)

Can my DVD player play other Region discs other than ‘Region 2’?

We can confirm that here in the UK the Federation Against Copyright (FACT) does not permit the distribution of DVD products able to play anything other than 'Region 2' DVD software. Thus we can confirm that all Kenwood UK marketed products are UK 'Region 2' only.

DualDiscs will they play on my Kenwood Product?

The music industry has announced a new pre-recorded hybrid disc named “DualDisc" in August of 2004 and have already started releasing DualDisc titles.

The DualDisc is a two-sided disc made up of digital audio on one side and a DVD on the other. However, it appears that the digital audio side does not conform to the standard industry technical specifications for compact disc digital audio.

Kenwood DVD/CD players fully conform to the standard industry technical specifications for compact disc digital audio. At this time, using a DualDisc on Kenwood products may lead to playback or mechanical problems. For optimum performance and to avoid problems, Kenwood recommends that consumers do not use DualDisc titles on any Kenwood products.

Kenwood has been reviewing technical specifications regarding the DualDisc titles which are already in the market. In accordance with these investigations, Kenwood will update this notice.
